All Corner Shelves (Except the Pato) are available in the Wall-Mounted Unit

The Wall Mounted Corner Shower Shelf Kit is for use in a shower where tile already exists. To order the Kit, simply add it at check-out when ordering your shelves.

If your future plans are to install new tile, you may want to consider our original products which are tiled-in during wall tile installation. Both products are designed to last, with only the appearance in design differing slightly. Below you will find instructions and materials needed for Wall-Mounted Installation.

Wall-Mounted Installation Kits include 2 Shelf Supports, 4 Install Tabs, 4 Wedges, Sand Paper and Epoxy. You will NEED to purchase Silicone (Clear Caulking) and Color Caulking in a color that matches your shelf. These items can be found at most local tile or building supply stores.

You will need: Pencil, Torpedo Level, Putty Knife, Measuring Tape, and a Utility Knife.

Step 1: Stack shelf support on the shelf and measure. This becomes the support line number.

Step 2: Decide where you want your shelf installed and make a pencil mark along the top of the shelf.

Step 3: Measure down from the top of the shelf mark using your support line number. At the support line number, mark a hortizontal line.

Step 4: Hold shelf support in the corner and on the mark from Step 3. Make a vertical pencil mark where the support starts to curve.

Step 5: Place torpedo level on the line from Step 3 and draw a line starting 1" from the corner and ending at your vertical mark. Be sure the bubble in the level is centered.

Step 6: Peel and stick install tabs exactly below support line. Place the outer tab slightly in from the vertical line and the other 1" out from the corner. Repeat this step for the adjacent wall.

TO IMPROVE ADHESION, ROUGHEN THE WALL TILE SURFACE WHERE SUPPORTS ARE SECURED, USING SANDPAPER PROVIDED IN YOUR KIT. MAKE SURE TO CLEAN AND DRY THE SURFACE WHERE SUPPORTS ARE TO BE SECURED (YOU CAN USE ACETONE TO CLEAN THIS AREA).

Step 7: Put equal amounts of epoxy onto a clean piece of cardboard.

Step 8: VERY IMPORTANT...MAKE SURE TO MIX EPOXY THOROUGHLY USING A PUTTY KNIFE. EPOXY SHOULD BE CLEAR WHEN MIXED PROPERLY. Apply epoxy immediately as it will begin to cure quickly.

Step 9: Apply a thin coat of epoxy on the upper half of the shelf support, keeping epoxy 1" away from the ends of the shelf support. If too much epoxy is applied, it will escape onto the surrounding wall tile. Do not clean excess epoxy with water, instead use acetone while epoxy is still wet. Acetone will not harm tile or stone. If epoxy escapes above the support, wipe with your finger and clean finger with acetone.

Step 10: The bottom of the shelf support will rest on top of the install tabs. In order to prevent the epoxy from escaping below the support, press the support upwards onto the wall. Support must be installed tight to the wall surface. Support should appear to be touching the wall.

Step 11: Once the first shelf support is in place, put the second support even with the first in the corner. Hold it level and draw a line along the bottom of the support as well as a vertical line where the support starts to curve. Peel and stick the install tabs just as before. Repeat Steps 9 and 10.

Step 12: Use wedges if you need to level the shelf support. Allow epoxy to dry for at least 4 hours before installing the shelf.

Step 13: Be sure the epoxy has cured and the supports are not moving. Apply 1/4" bead of silicone where the shelf supports meet the wall. Start in the corner and stop 1" from the ends of the supports. DO NOT REMOVE THE INSTALL TABS YET.

Step 14: Gently place the shelf onto the silicone and shelf supports.

Step 15: Immediately place wedges between the shelf and shelf supports. Place the outside wedges close to the end of the supports. Be careful not to push the wedges into the silicone, as it will make it difficult to remove them later.

Step 16: Adjust the shelf 1/16" from the walls. Use the level to ensure that the shelf drains to the outside edge. Adjust or remove wedges to create drainage. The shelf must be slightly raised in the back corner.

Step 17: After silicone has set for 8 hours and the shelf does not move easily, remove install tabs and wedges. Gently clean around shelf if needed. The silicone will still be curing.

Step 18: Apply a color caulking liberally, filling the gaps as completely as you can. Caulking will shrink as it drys.

Step 19: Use a damp sponge and gently wipe to remove excess caulking. Start in the corner and work out toward the edge. Clean sponge often and make as many passes as needed to remove residue. A freshly rinsed sponge is the trick to good caulking joints.

Step 20: Use color caulking to fill gaps on underside as well. This includes under the shelf, where the supports join in the corner, and under the supports. Allow caulking to dry at least 12 hours before exposing to water. Color caulk will cure completely in four to five days, but the outer shell will dry to where water will not disturb it.

INSTALLATION TIPS  

Do not attempt to clean excess silicone or epoxy with water.

Excess silicone can be cut away using a razor knife.

If necessary, use acetone to clean the excess residue from epoxy before it is dry.

Do not remove install tabs before all components (supports and shelf) are installed and dry.

To improve adhesion, roughen the wall tile surface where supports are secured, using 80 grit sandpaper.
